WELCOME TO CANADA! Everyday English for Your New Life
WELCOME TO CANADA! Everyday English for Your New Life
New country. New language. New confidence.
Starting a new life in Canada can be exciting, but everyday situations can feel difficult when you’re still learning English.
How do you ask for something in a store? Make an appointment? Talk to a neighbour? Ask for directions? Understand a cashier? Give your phone number? Or simply tell someone, “I’m sorry, I don’t understand”?
Welcome to Canada! is a friendly, practical English course designed especially for newcomers who want to feel more comfortable and confident using English in everyday life.
This isn’t a class where you’ll spend hours studying complicated grammar rules or memorizing long vocabulary lists.
We’re going to talk. We’re going to practise. And we’re going to use English for real life.
Together, we’ll practise the English you may need at stores, appointments, on the phone, on public transportation, in your neighbourhood, and when meeting new people. You’ll learn how to introduce yourself, ask questions, understand important information, and most importantly what to say when you don’t understand someone.
You’ll practise through simple conversations and real-life situations so that the English you learn in class is English you can actually use outside the classroom.
And don’t worry about making mistakes. Mistakes are welcome here!
You don’t need perfect grammar.
You don’t need a perfect accent.
And you definitely don’t need to understand every word.
You just need to be willing to try.
As a Canadian CELTA-certified English instructor with more than 20 years of ESL teaching experience, I understand that every student learns differently. I’ll meet you at your level, explain things clearly, give you plenty of opportunities to practise, and help you build your English one conversation at a time.
Whether you’ve just arrived in Canada or you’ve been here for a while and want to feel more independent using English, you are welcome here.
Bring your questions.
Bring your courage.
Bring the English you already have even if it’s only a little.
We’ll build from there.
Let’s help you find the words and the confidence to begin your new life in English.
